"想い出を記憶する椅子
The Chair Keeps Our Memories"
この椅子は錆びた鉄とガラスでできています。椅子は単体で見ると人の不在を思わせますし、椅子自体が経てきた歴史にも想いが及びます。持ち主が変わっても椅子は人々の歴史を刻み続けます。それはまるで人の想い出をも記憶する装置のようにも思われます。座ることはできませんが、鑑賞した人の記憶もまた内包してゆくものとして、この作品を作りました。
ABOUT ARTWORK
This chair is made out of rusty iron and glass. When looked at as a single object, it reminds us of absence of a person, or takes us to the history that the chair itself went through. It continues to engrave the history of people even when the owners change, as if it is a device to even memorize people’s memory. Though it is not possible to sit on it, this work was created as something to contain the memory of those who appreciate it.
